DESCRIPTION

This game was made in the final year of my UNI course, which was made over a 1 year period. With me joining the team in the second half of the year. The game is a first person puzzle game, inspired by portal, where players use their own dead bodies to solve various puzzles, to progress. We also showed our game at AUS PAX 2022 and ACMI demo, through Swinburne University.

 DESIGN PROCESS

Previously I worked with a different team in early year of my course, however due to circumstances,  I worked with a new team in the latter year, working on Kill Switch, a first person puzzle game that uses the players dead bodies to solve the puzzles in the room, the games was heavily inspired by Portal Duology. The game was already in an alpha prototype when i joined, the next few weeks leading to PAX AUS, was polishing the game and fixing bugs.

Once at PAX, we demonstrated our game to the public for 3 days, gaining valuable feedback from the public, peers and from other people from the gaming industry. We used that feedback to polish our game and change rooms based on them.

 

I joined as a level/room designer and 3D modeller.  I had started to conceptualise a room as an idea to add to the game, but it only stayed in the concept phase, due to not wanting to add another introduction room, rather investing in making actual puzzle rooms. To the right was the plan sketch. Further into development, I aided the team into introducing a new mechanic, utilizing a fan, to use physics based puzzles.
